A week ago, I took a work-related trip (CHEST 2006 - College of Chest Physicians Annual International Meeting) to Salt Lake City, UT. Here are some things that happened and/or things I learned while there:
Delta Airlines - While their first class accommodations are enjoyable (warm choco chip cookies, free headphones and hand lotion, and softer blankets), their flights are never, ever on time. All four I took - Indy to Atlanta, Atlanta to SLC, SLC to Cincinnati, Cincinnati to Indy...all late, diverted or mechanically failed.
Five Star Hotels - Are the shit. Thanks to GlaxoSmithKline, I had a fantastic hotel (when I finally made it there), complete with a limousine service to and from the airport, a great view of the mountains and a luxurious bathrobe that I contemplated stealing.
Mormons - Their temple is beautiful. The Tabernacle choir is a must-hear/see. They'll leave you alone when you tell them your a practicing Raelian.
Doctors from around the world - Are just as ho-ass as people at IBE when it comes to free pharmaceutical goodies. Seriously, are you really going to schlep 4 Qvar bags, 5 stethoscope lights, and 8 million free pens back to Japan or India? The answer I guess is "yes".
Lattes - Are good everywhere, especially near the campus of Brigham Young, and especially when they're being paid for by your company.
Plural Marriage - I went looking for one, but no such luck. I guess you have to know the secret handshake. I was going to ask to speak to Warren Jeffs when I was there, but even I know when to cut it out.
Ugly Dolls (Chuckanucka pictured above) - Love their mountain views and their Mormons.
